As a member of our team, you'll play a vital role in maintaining safe mobility for every traveler in our state by providing upbeat, quality and professional customer service and meet customer needs in all program areas of the office. This is done by reviewing applications, requesting personal information from motor vehicle records and maintain records of current Driver's Privacy Protection Act agreements.
 
Your Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Records team within the Systems and Administration Bureau for the Iowa DOT. The Records team is responsible for maintaining accurate crash and traffic conviction driving records for approximately 3 million driving records maintained by the department.
  • The Records team coordinates all activities necessary to accurately, securely and lawfully maintain Iowa records. The Records team assures policies and procedures comply with all applicable state and federal regulations, including, but not limited to Iowa Code Chapters 321, 321A, 321C, and 321J, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations applicable to commercial drivers, the REAL ID regulated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act Iowa Code 321.11.
  • Review and identify all traffic crashes occurring within the state, interpret code and enter the identified data elements, review all officers’ OWI reports of violations of the Implied Consent Law to determine if the form is completed properly, complete queue work assigned by supervisor and maintain knowledge of the Federal Privacy Protection ACT (DPPA) and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrator (AAMVA) guidelines.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Experience equal to three years of full-time clerical or closely related work;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting graduation from high school, G.E.D. equivalency or satisfactory completion of a recognized correspondence or formal job-related training course at the high school or equivalent level such as that offered by WIN, OEO, CEP, CIVEC or similar programs, for one year only of the required experience;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting nine months or thirty semester hours coursework in an accredited business school, college or university for each year of the required experience;

OR

certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of eighteen months of full time experience as a resident treatment worker or Clerk–Advanced.
